A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I have had American Bulldogs since 1997 and have found this to be one of the most Loyal, Intellegent,and Versatile breed of canines today. Although there are many variations in the breed, my preference is the large bone, muscular, agile, with the real bulldog look, and the natural instinct to guard and protect its family. This breed started as a farm utility dog, and today is being used in many many venues, from sport competitions to home and family guardians. I prefer to test, train and work my dogs in real life situations, not just sport, which I have done and not opposed to. However I feel that my dogs need to know when and how to respond in every situation instictively and not always waiting to be told what to do. Believe me, when someone is climbing through your window at night you dont want your dog to just sit there because you were sleep and could not tell him what to do. I once knew a guy who called his dog a working dog because he was titled in lots of different sporting competitions, needles to say this same dog was taken by someone from inside the owners car. When speaking of a "WORKING DOG" I think a lot of people confuse the word WORK with the word SPORT. To me WORK means when you have a dog that is performing a specific task, like farm utility work, wild boar catching, family gaurdian, police work, and therapy work. I do not believe that just because a dog will bit a sleeve or suit, hang on a rope for an hour, or pull 3500lbs makes them a working dog, to me it makes them a SPORT dog. Again I am all for the sports and would also suggest and encourage them. Just know what you want and what you have because this breed I think in the right hands can do it all.

If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be, before purchasing an American bulldog do your homework, ask lots of questions, know why you want one and most importantly find a breeder you can trust.This breed is not for everyone and not everyone can be trusted.
